A damp and grey morning at Linlithgow L.C saw The Rose face a physical Polbeth side. After a good performance in the training game midweek The Rose were full of confidence.

The first half started fast with the teams taking turns to attack. Linlithgow got a chance early but found the opposition keeper in top form. Polbeth had a few chances, mostly from countless careless fouls from the Linlithgow midfield and defence.

Relief came when a beautiful ball was strung through to Robbie Lamb who tucked it away. The Rose defended strong but were still giving away foul after foul which lead to the Polbeth goal; over the top from a free kick, bounce, and a free header for the forward. Linlithgow players switched off and rooted to the spot.

Half time: Linlithgow Rose 1-1 Polbeth United

Second half kicked off with The Rose piling on the pressure but the Polbeth keeper pulling off several good saves. Polbeth had a number of chances putting them all wide or straight into Kieran's arms.

The rose had some brilliant passages of play especially Euan who had a great run down the wing beating two or three players in the process and delivering a sweet ball into the box which was cleared away. Many shouts of a penalty for Polbeth came within five minutes but the referee waved them away.

Danny and Craig came on with about ten minutes to go and injected a bit of energy into the team but the Polbeth defence were able to hold The Rose off. A tight half with no goals ended the game as the first half did.

Full time: Linlithgow Rose1-1 Polbeth United

A solid performance once again from The Rose but were denied their first league win of the season by a strong Polbeth side. 3 points now on the board now for The Rose from 3 draws.
