Edinburgh South CFC ask community to design new badge

Written by
Edinburgh South Community Football Club have initiated a competition in which they have asked the community to design a new badge for the club.
The competition is simply for anyone to create a new badge for the club and the winner will receive £75.00 of Football Nation vouchers to spend as they please. The decision to go ahead with designing a new identity comes following the announcement that Edinburgh South FC and Fernieside FC will be merging to form one club over the summer of 2016.
Joe Sneddon the social media officer at Edinburgh South CFC explained why he felt opening the competition to the public was the best idea.
“We are running the competition as we have recently agreed the amalgamation of Edinburgh south FC and Ferniside FC, Both clubs realised that it would benefit the community a lot more if we worked together and combined our resources creating a better football environment and prominent club within the south of Edinburgh.
“The new name for the club going forward is Edinburgh South Community Football Club and as such we feel the need to create a new badge not only to mark our identity but also to mark the point where both Edinburgh South FC and Ferniside FC became one and the history of both clubs intertwined.
“We feel the best way to create the new badge would be to involve the local community and open up the design of the badge to the public. There are a lot of creative ideas out there and we want to engage them as much as possible and make sure the youth of Edinburgh have their say as we are after all a community club.”
Edinburgh South CFC say that the competition will run until Sunday the 24th July 2016, so you better get your entries sent away as time is of the essence.
