Unbeaten Edinburgh City hosted Craigroyston Boys Club under the Friday night floodlights at Forrester High School. The home side were looking to make it 14 wins from 14 in this 3rd division clash, and the duly did so.

With only nine minutes played, City were three goals to the thanks to a Jason Whitehead double and an effort from Patterson Marfo. Midfield maestro Aidan Lawson providing the assists along with Robbie Telfer.

Just before half time and Whitehead completed his hat-trick thanks to bit of magic from Marfo in setting him up. Whitehead raced onto the through ball and tucked the ball into the corner to make it 4-0 to City.

Half Time: Edinburgh City FC 4-0 Craigroyston Boys Club

The second half was less than ten minutes old when the home side extended their advantage. Talisman Ali Hogg provided width down the left, drilled a delightful ball into Whitehead, and he eased past two defenders to slot the ball home for his fourth and City's fifth of the night.

Craigroyston to their credit never stopped working, and they managed to get a goal themselves, and in spectacular fashion it was. After a poor clearance from the City defence, the Craigroyston player picked it up 30 yards from goal, and with no hesitation he unleashed a pile-driver of a shot that gave Dean Shearsby in the City goal no chance as it flew into the top corner. Cracking strike.

City's goalkeeper turned provider as he pinged a wonderful forty-yard pass to release Marfo down the right hand side. The big striker spotted the keeper off his line and chipped him from twenty five yards to restore City's five goal lead. A great way for the big man to cap off a good performance.

With little over five minutes remaining Craigroyston pulled another goal back. Henry Arthur lost the flight of the ball under the glaring floodlights and the striker took advantage of this to nip in and slot the ball into the corner.

Full Time: Edinburgh City FC 6-2 Craigroyston BC

An entertaining game seen City almost at their best in the first half, playing the slick football they boys have been playing thus far. The win allows City to move two points at the top of the table, and still have a game in hand over second placed Penicuik.
