Fixture: Redhall Star v Blackhall Athletic

Redhall Star overcame a stubborn Blackhall Athletic to claim a 2-0 win in the league at Meggetland. Second half strikes from Sam Donachie and Nathan Robertson eased Redhall to the three points to claim their first win in five games.
Redhall welcomed Marc Hannah back from suspension aswell as Lewis Blues and Cammy Grant from illness.
A squad of 16 for the first time this year. Blackhall had the first chance with a corner which Green punched well clear.
Redhall were keeping the ball on the surface and passing well but the final ball was letting them down in the first half as both Sam Donachie and Jack Anderson had to settle with shots from distance.
Blackhall relied on the counter attack but Adam Robertson & Ewan Mitchell were defending well with keeper Green playing the 'sweeper keeper' to good effect.
Blackhall almost took the lead as a free kick from 20 yards thumped off the underside of the bar with A Robertson clearing the loose ball to safety.

In the second half Redhall increased the tempo and took a deserved lead after Adam Shortiss chased down a ball wide left. Shortiss passed to Donachie who evaded one challenge before firing high into the net from 14 yards.
This goal gave Redhall the confidence to start knocking the ball about as they passed their way through Blackhall. Donachie and Nathan Robertson both went close to adding number two but Blackhall were still dangerous on the break.
March Hannah and Rory Taylor combined well to create a chance but Hannah's shot was well blocked.
Redhall did score a second as Nathan Robertson pounced at the back post to fire the ball across the keeper and into the net.
Donachie and Shortiss had chances to increase the score but were twarted by the keeper.
Jack Anderson was then dumped to the deck as Redhall claimed for a penalty but it was not given.
Tommy Robertson had a chance to get on the scoresheet but just failed to connect with his head while Blair Salvona had a shot saved.
Blackhall were given a chance to get back in the game after Paul Crowley was adjudged to have passed back to keeper Green but it was the Blackhall player who got the final touch. The free kick was well blocked for a corner and then headed claer by Mitchell.
