The opening minute saw play swing to the other end when the Edinburgh City number nine Afoladi broke away to earn his team a corne, slack marking from the Edina defence allowed Afoladi a free header however his effort was smothered by Maclean in the Hibs goal.

Scarpa was in inspired form in the City goal as he thwarted Edina time and again with the pick of the bunch a smart save down to his right to beat away an Edmonston effort, as the Edina team were starting to get into a rhythm as they passed the ball about the excellent forresters surface.

Edina took the lead on twenty two minutes a flowing move down the left hand side was finished of after a great return pass to Aitchison who gleefully rammed the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 1-0 to the boys from the east side of edinburgh.

Edinburgh City to their credit kept sticking at it as the tempo of the game increased however their forays into the Edina half were becoming less frequent as the team in green passed and moved extremely well indeed.

Another interchange of passes down The right hand side released the impressive Edmonston who crossed for Russell to stroke the ball into the corner to take the boys in green 2-0 up.

The second half began with City showing more vigour after slack play from Edina led to Struan Maclean releasing Afoladi after some good skill however the number nines long range effort went wide of the right hand post.

Edina now had twins Rhys and Aidan Mackenzie on the park and the understanding showed as the number eight was sent clear on goal only for Scarpa again to dive well at the Edina strikers feet to smother the ball.

King was next to threaten Scarpas goal for Edina with a blistering twenty five yard drive that whistled just past the post as it looked destined for the top corner.

With Edina continuing on the front foot it was Aidan Mackenzie who made it 3-0 as he reacted quickest in the edinburgh box to slam the ball high into the net and put the game out of reach for the home side.

The effort's of both sides to continue playing good football until final whistle.
