A quick brush and a spreading of salt on the pitch by the ground staff made sure of this eagerly anticipated league A clash going ahead.
Banks O'Dee Albion kicked off and immediately took control of the game limiting Westdyke to occasional counter attacks.
Midway through the first half the Albion striker, Adam Carter was fouled twenty five yards from goal and from the resulting free kick a Greg Pirie thunderbolt shook the bar, much to the relief of the Westdyke keeper.
After Twenty minutes the Albion pressure paid off when a lovely switch of play from left to right found Ryan Blair who set himself with one touch then rifled the ball past the diving Westdyke keeper.
Half Time : Banks O'Dee Albion 1-0 Westdyke
Three minutes after half time Albion were 2-0 up from an eighteen yard Greg Pirie strike.
Instead of having a negative effect, Westdyke rallied and took the game to Albion. Westdyke were pressing Albion into there own half resulting in Albion committing silly fouls.
On one occasion McGinlay of Westdyke beat Dawid in the home sides goal, however, the ball went crashing off the bar. Westdyke built more pressure with the ball bobbling about the Albion box but they couldn't nick a goal.
Albion wrestled control of the game back with a wonder strike from Greg Pirie and a composed chip from Liam Mewse saw Albion home and dry.
