Echt started the game brightly and enjoyed a lengthy spell of possession but it was Banchory who found themselves in front when a low cross ball from the right hand side was met by the sliding striker to make it 0-1.
Echt continued to retain the ball well without really threatening the Banchory goal until a bursting run down the left hand side from Fraser Wyness saw him enter the box and be brought down by the trailing Banchory defender. From the resulting spot kick Bradley Michaud-Simms superb low strike found the bottom corner to level the game at 1-1.
A rejuvenated Echt side continued to press Banchory creating multiple chances and could have found themselves in the lead had it not been for a mixture of great saves by the Banchory keeper and excellent defending by the Banchory centre half.
The pressure eventually took its toll when a ball into the box from the right hand side was met by a determined Iain Riddell who managed to find space and get his shot away only for it to be superbly saved by the Banchory keeper. Unfortunately for Banchory, the saved shot landed to Stuart Lawson who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net and give Echt a 2-1 lead.
Banchory began to put pressure on Echt as they chased the equaliser but some good movement at a throw in saw Stuart Lawson round off a move he had begun by calmly finishing from just inside the 18 yard box following an Iain Riddell cross.
Half Time : Echt BC 3-1 Banchory Boys
The second half saw the start of some heavy snow and high winds with both teams struggling to get a foothold in the game.
Echts right back Danny Forsyth made an attacking run forward, linking up brilliantly with Craig Peter before the defenders sliding effort wrong footed the keeper and hit the back of the net extending Echts lead to 4-1.
Following some Echt substitutions, Banchory grew into the game again and created several chances which forced Echt keeper Matthew Johnson into some good saves. The continued pressure paid off just minutes later as Banchory pulled a goal back to make it 4-2.
A good spell of possession for Echt saw the ball worked out to the Craig Peter on the right hand side and having beat one defender Craig then cut the ball back to Jordan Bowman who had positioned himself well and despatched a looping shot into the back of the net restoring Echts three goal cushion, 5-2.
Banchory fought back again and a superb ball in behind the Echt defence was latched onto by the advancing Banchory striker who coolly placed his right footed shot beyond Matthew Johnson reducing the defect to two, 5-3.
Unfortunately for Banchory the late comeback was not enough as Echt pushed on and substitute Scott Wilkies effort from the edge of the 18 yard box found the back of the net following a great piece of individual skill from Craig Peter down the right hand side completing his hat trick of assists; 6-3.
