Deveronvale girls 13's battle back to win league cup

Written by
Deveronvale Girls and Aberdeen Girls 13's played against each other at Aberdeen Sports Village in the league cup final with the Banffers coming out on top winning 3-2.
A final isn’t without its drama and Deveronvale won the cup having come from behind and it showed the character they have to win the game.
Amanda Allan, manager at Vale 13's gave us her reaction to the win by saying, “A lot of the girls were nervous before the game and it was also the first final that most of them played in. The nerves got the better of them to start with, but as soon as they got on the ball and passed it around, then I knew that they were going to dig deep for me. They dug deep for each other they really did. They've done themselves proud and they did the club proud. They played like a family.
“I couldn’t be prouder of them and they have worked hard all season. They really did deserve this victory, especially after being 2-0 behind and going onto win the game 3-2. Plus the moment Flora Bruce blocked a goal bound header off the line. How she did that was unbelievable. Flora is a great defender and thoroughly deserved to get lady of the match. I’m just so proud of the girls.”
Vale and Aberdeen meet again tomorrow at Portsoy in a league decider and Amanda hopes Saturday’s victory can give her girls extra impetus going into the game when she added, “Another tough game for them on Saturday but they know that they can do it. It’s on our home ground so our support will be right behind them.
“We know what we are up against; last Saturday has given us confidence ahead of the game.”
