Last season saw the town of Fraserburgh have a new piece of memorabilia after Link-Up Under 15s lifted the league title, beating sides such as Albion and Dyce to the crown.
Now, Fraserburgh Link-Up coach Colin Simpson says it’s all to play for this season once again. The new ADJFA season for the under 16s gets underway this Saturday with Fraserburgh playing host to Balmedie who have come up from the A league.
Simpson looked ahead to the season ahead by saying ”Last season was a good season all round for us, however it’s a new season now and it’s all to play for once again.
“The expectations are the same as last year. Teams will be gunning this time around to beat us. Our guys are all local boys which will help us again. We’ll do the same as we did last season and take each game at a time as there is a lot of football to be played between now and May.
“There will be a lot of good teams out there this season; teams such as Echt and Culter are a bit like us. They like to play football the right way. Clubs such as Albion have a lot of players to start the season and there’ll be other teams that will want to challenge now.
“The Scottish Cup will still be a bonus for us this season. We had a fantastic run last season and considering the amount of miles that we had to travel, the guys did exceptionally well and we’ll be aiming for the league once again and also the two domestic cups.
“The strength in the team is good and the league won’t be won by one person. Everybody will have a part to play from the goalkeeper through to the striker's, everybody will have a part to play.
“We have a couple of additions to the squad however we are looking to strengthen the squad a bit more for the season ahead.”
