With two good teams in action, this potentially had the makings of a great cup final however clear cut chances were at a premium for either team and it saw Banchory netting two goals in the 2nd period of extra time to avoid going into the dreaded lottery of a penalty shoot-out.
Colony Locos confirmed before the game that they had no intention on the Scottish Cup final with Barrhead next Saturday going into this cup final and the Inverurie outfit had a couple of controversial moments went against them during normal time in what could have decided the game and evade the thought of the game getting played for an extra 30 minutes.
Locos had the first attack towards goal in the 6th minute after Kieran Lawrence went on a brilliant run before his effort just went inches wide of the right hand post, it was a midfield tussle for a short period afterwards.
It was Banchory who were then through on goal in the 14th minute, a through ball from Cammy Booth found Danny Lechner whose sharp drive from 18 yards forced a good stop from Jordan Garrow in the Colony Locos goal.
The best chance of the first half came for the Deesiders 12 minutes before the interval, a great ball came in from Sam Smith which was met by Mike Davies with the Locos defence standing still however from 4 yards, the forward's solo effort hit the side netting with parts of the Banchory crowd celebrating thinking the ball had hit the back of the net.

Banchory went on the ascendancy once more after another great ball by Sam Smith found it's way into Taylor Christie whose effort just went over Garrow's bar, games between Banchory and Locos this season have been sailing in with goals however both teams seemed to get no luck on this occasion.
Now, a couple of controversial moments took place. A great ball came into Colony's Grant Dawson whose shot found the bottom left hand corner however the linesman felt that Dawson was in an offside position when the ball was made with the Colony bench not happy with the decision.
Before Daniel Crisp went on a storming run into the box before he was brought down by Hamish Tubby much to the rage of the Colony squad and crowd, it seemed to be a turning point in the game and probably ensured that this final was getting played for an extra 30 minutes.
The second half had nothing to excite the neutrals and it even saw some of the crowd leaving after 90 minutes played where as if this game contained goals then i'm pretty sure it would have been like the 15s Belmont Trophy Final and it would have attracted a bigger crowd.

With the prospect of penalties looming, it was Banchory who stepped up to the plate, Cammy Buchan was able to squeeze his way past the Locos defence before his shot calmly found the bottom left hand corner.

The rest of extra time seen Steve Adams in the Banchory goal untroubled and the Deesiders were to go on and secure the Sunnybank Shield.

Taylor Christie and Sam Smith saw shots saved by Garrow before the blues got a vital second goal. With just three minutes remaining, Banchory put the tie to bed, a ball in by Cammy Buchan found Sam Smith who found the net with ease with Locos appealing for offside.

An evenly contested match with Banchory just showing how they can be clinical in front of goal in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Final Result: 0-2

Banchory coach Neil Findlay had the following message for Colony Locos, "Just play the way like they did today, create the chances and stick them away."
Neil Findlay - Banchory BC Coach said "It was a hard fought game, I knew it would be a tight game, Colony are a very good side and it's a pleasure for us to lift the double in our last ever season.

"I think we wanted it that bit more in extra time, we maybe just got that break as well to get the goal.

"The biggest memory has to be the Scottish Cup final, to get there with a provisional team from the surrounding area of Banchory where we were also runners-up in the A league and reached a final is probably the pinnacle of it and we also got the SYFA team of the year as well."
