Ferryhill stretched their winning league run to 14 consecutive wins against a Cove side which contained a couple of ex Ferryhill players in their ranks.
The strong wind spoiled the game to some extent but not the excitement as the Portlethen based Cove put up strong resistence to keep the score down to a single goal. To be fair they had a goal disallowed and one effort from Alex Lawson cleared off the line in the first half by Stuart Gray.
The only goal of the game came in the 35th minute following a corner on the right. Keith Duncanson swung his kick beyond the far post where it was met by Michael Keller whose knock down header was swept into the net by Stuart Gray from around six yards.
It was a great boost for Ferryhill, who had battled hard against the elements in the first half and to turnaround one nil up after facing the wind was definitely a bonus. The wind shifted slightly during the second period with the visitors forcing the pace and Cove defending strongly, well organised by Sam Williams in the centre of their back four..
Half Time: Cove BC 0-1 Ferryhill BC
There were half chances at both ends in the second half but no further goals, as Ferryhill maintained their 100% start to the season. There are still a couple of teams, most notably Westdyke B.C., who have five games in hand and are eighteen points behind who must still think they have a chance of winning the title and with Ferryhill having to travel to second placed Alford Amateurs this Saturday, nothing has been decided in the B League at this stage.
