Midway through the Easter Holidays and the majority of these kids are probably worried about the prospect of exams coming up, however when the ADJFA fixtures came out last Sunday and they noticed it was the top of the league clash between Glentanar and Culter, it was something for both the teams to take their minds off.
A couple of spectators I spoke to before the game insisted that this game should have been the season finale due to the fact that going into the game, Culter were 1 point clear of Glentanar with the latter still got a game in hand, a 3-1 win for the visitors means that Culter are now 4 points clear and wins over Deveronvale and Westdyke in their 2 remaining games means they'll be crowned league champions for the first time.
After a slow start to the game, Culter livened things up in the 40th minute, a throw in found Cameron Pashley who then did the best by perfectly guiding the ball past Grant Yeats in the Glentanar goal.
The visitors then doubled their advantage just before the interval after a free kick from former Aberdeen player Hamish Ritchie evaded everyone and found it's way into the top right hand corner from at least 50 yards out.

With Culter grabbing that 2nd goal on the stroke of half time, it was going to be interesting to see how the hosts were going to try and get back into the game or would Culter go on and win the game comfortably, it wasn't an exciting start to the 2nd half however Glentanar had a chance to reduce the leeway after a through ball from Danny Middler found Elliott MacDonald whose shot went straight at Dey in the visitors goal.
The visitors then showed a threat again after a great ball came in from the right hand flank by Callum Buchan which was met by Greg Smith whose header crashed onto the crossbar before a rebound by Cameron Pashley sailed over the bar.
At the other end, Middler had 2 great chances to pull one back for the hosts, 1st a ball came in from MacDonald was met by the ex Dyce player whose effort went straight at David Dey in the Culter goal.
Glentanar were already back into the game by that point and got a crucial goal back to create an interesting last period to the game, a ball came in from Stephen which was met by Elliott MacDonald who showed good control before wonderfully knocking the ball into the top left hand corner past Dey with an unstoppable shot.
In the 72nd minute, Glentanar had a free kick 25 yards from goal which was taken by MacDonald whose sharp effort crashed off the crossbar in what would have been a great contender for goal of the season, the ball was immediately intercepted by the Culter defence.
As the hosts tried to steal something out of the game, it was Culter who took all the spoils, a defensive lapse played in Kieran Fowler who was clean through on goal and made no mistake who produced a cool chip over Yeats.
