An artificial 3G surface was where Meldrum and Peterhead would clash in the first cup final of the afternoon. Meldrum were to win the Under 13's age group of the competition for the fist time, courtesy of a comeback and extra time masterclass.

In what was an entertaining final for the neutral, Peterhead were to have the first opportunity of the game after they passed the ball around the slick surface really well. The ball came to Alex Kelly whose effort just went a whisker wide of the left hand post.

It was Meldrum who took the lead after 6 minutes when Alex Duncan's diagonal ball went into the feet of Ewan Collie. Collie then did the rest by curling the ball into the bottom left hand corner giving the goalkeeper no chance.

The Buchan side were to hit back and got their equaliser just 4 minutes later. Kieran Lewis' ball from the left hand flank was met by Liam Norris who guided the ball home with precision.

Peterhead then went 2-1 ahead in the 16th minute. Kieran Lewis sent in another key ball which was this time met by Calum Mitchell who finished with composure.

More luck was to strike for Peterhead a few minutes later in the 26th minute when they were to get a penalty.
This was due to Alex Kelly being brought down in the area by the Meldrum goalkeeper Calum McDonald and Dyce midfielder Kieran Simpson took the spot-kick. What a lovely strike it was as Simpson cooly slotted it into the top left hand corner.

If you look at the complexion of the game overall the most vital goal of this game came just before half time. Meldrum were to be the more dangerous for the rest of the game after that point. Meldrum pulled a goal back after the ball came to Aaron Garden before he beat Ryan Hogart with ease.

Half Time: Meldrum Academy 2-3 Peterhead Academy

Collie scored his second goal of the game just a few minutes after the interval he recieved the ball from Liam Petarski and then did the rest by knocking the ball off the post and in.

Peterhead then tried to get back in front with Kieran Lewis, who already provided two assists in the game. He tried his luck from 20 yards which went narrowly wide of the right hand post.

Midway through the half and with chances at a real premium, Meldrum did have a chance to take the lead for the first time in the match. Ewan Collie's effort went wide after a great ball sent in by Dylan Hansen.

The last real chance during the 70 minutes fell to Peterhead's Callum Mitchell. He already had one goal to his name and he tried to beat McDonald with a 10 yard drive, however it went over.

Full Time: Meldrum Academy 3-3 Peterhead Academy

Meldrum took the lead for the first time in the game in extra time after Alix Cheyne's ball was met by Collie and the lively looking striker nodded the ball home.

Aaron MacKenzie then got in on the act after another great ball was sent in by Dylan Hansen and Mackenzie produced a cool finish.

Hansen then tried to turn from scorer to provider however his effort was saved. However, Collie got his fourth goal of the afternoon by putting in the rebound from inside the six yard box.

MacKenzie then doubled his tally after Collie tried to net his fifth goal of the afternoon, however Hogart produced an excellent save. MacKenzie tapped the ball home for his second of the afternoon and to wrap up Meldrum's win.

Final Result: Meldrum Academy 7-3 Peterhead Academy
