A great day was had by Bargeddie Colts 2002s (pictured, below) at the Powerleague in Hamilton today for the SYFA Central Region Winter 5s Festival. Multiple teams from East Kilbride Burgh United FC, Jerviston FC, Wolves BC, Garnkirk Utd, Calderbraes and Bargeddie Colts among others braved the chilly conditions and turned in some sparkling displays.

In a pleasant change from the regular Soccer Sevens of the SYFA pathway, passing and possession was key on the day, the players on all teams were a credit to their clubs. The players really enjoyed the experience, it's been a while since they experienced, for example, the walls being in play. Bargeddie's goalie learning to his cost as a shot over the bar hit him on the back and rolled agonisingly into his own goal!

All the games were refereed by neutral refs too, the first time this age group will have experienced this. The fast paced games were a great break from the normal routine, hopefully there will be plenty more to come.
