PHd BC V FB Link Up U16sThe sunny day and strong breeze was typical weather for a Buchan derby match. Fraserburgh started the match with the wind at their back and each team made a lively start.

While Peterhead had most of the early possession, Fraserburgh looked dangerous on the break.

After ten minutes, Peterhead keeper Tait could only look on as Ryan Tait placed chipped the ball into the postage stamp from about eighteen yards.

The Blue team were stung and the rest of the half followed the early pattern of Peterhead having most of the ball but Fraserburgh hitting on the break. Indeed neither keeper had too much more to do before half-time.

After the turn round and now facing the wind, it was Fraserburgh who started best without really troubling the Peterhead keeper. They continued to play their passing game which suited the conditions.

The same player scored again ten minutes later with an excellent solo effort. Holding off close attention on the left, he turned inside the defenders and smashed his shot into the far side of the net.

Sandwiched between these two goals was another excellent finish as Peterhead found the long through ball to be paying dividends against the tiring Fraserburgh defence.

Two more goals from peterhead sealed the result for the Blue Toon. Nathan Morrison (2) and Mark Foley were the other Peterhead scorers.

While the result was emphatic in reality Fraserburgh were holding their own until midway through the second half when the quick goals from Peterhead stunned them. The Fraserburgh keeper did produce several excellent saves to keep his side in contention.

Bill Buchan

A photography enthusiast for more years than I care to remember, the last two years have seen me spend a lot of my time behind a camera at more and more sporting events.  In addition to the Youth Football matches I cover in the North of Aberdeenshire, I regularly shoot at horse jumping events and shows. This season I have photographed many of the Buchan Ladies Football Club home matches in the SWPL and must say that the standard of football is very good. Local running festivals and races are some of my favourite photography opportunities and would love to be photographing a large sporting event.
Always willing to learn new techniques and skills, I look forward to the new season with relish and hope to photograph some of the Scotland Football stars of the future.
