Milnes High v Inverurie Academy ( Seniors )On a cold day in Fochabers the 2011/2012 North Of Scotland competition kicked off with Inverurie travelling up north to face Milnes High School.
In an eight goal thriller Inverurie took the lead through Callum Yule but Milne's ran out winners 5-3 after goals from Forrest Watson, Ben Stewart (3) and Graham Lister won it for the Moray side.
Milnes had an early chance as Matty Smith knocked a long ball into Sam Harrison who crossed for Jamie Clark but his volley just went over.
Inverurie took the lead in the 10th minute as Ryan Glennie's free kick was parried by Stewart Black but Callum Yule tucked away the re-bound.
The Fochabers side responded right back and got an equaliser in the 16th minute as Sam Harrison's cross from the right hand side wasn't defended properly by Inverurie and sub Forrest Watson was on hand to equalise.
The hosts were settling into the game and playing some good football and took the lead as Josh McRae's throw was headed on by Jamie Clark but Craig Smith intercepted the ball and passed to Lee Cooper who didn't see the incoming Graham Lister who passed into Ben Stewart who's shot went into the top right hand corner from 20 yards.
Half Time: Milne's High School Seniors 2-1 Inverurie Academy Seniors
Milnes High v Inverurie Academy ( Seniors )Milne's played with the tempo as they ended the 1st half with playing some good attacking football and went 3-1 up as Josh McRae knocked a great through ball into Graham Lister who rounded Ryan Coutts and squeezed the ball into the net.
It was 4-1 in the 52nd minute as Joe Vickery passed into Ben Stewart who let fly from 35 yards and went under the keepers feet and in.
The Garioch side then played an extra man up front with Callum Yule and they started a comeback as they got a goal back in the 55th minute as Luke Munro's through ball found Alex Duguid whose powerful shot went into the bottom left hand corner.
Inverurie then got a penalty after Alex Duguid was taken down by a Milnes defender, his fellow striker Callum Yule stepped up to take it and scored.
As soon as Inverurie thought they were back in the game they were wrong as Milnes caught them on the break as they had done so many times in this game so far and Sam Harrison knocked a great ball into the oncoming Ben Stewart who met it and placed it into the bottom right hand corner and he made the game safe for the Moray side
