Dyce Whites and Westdyke CC under 13’s played in the 13’s Regional League Cup Final at Heathryfold. Westdyke, only three days prior, had clinched the A league title and they were hoping to make it a domestic and cup double.

The game got off to a fast start as in the third minute, a cross from Dyce’s Toby Mitchell was met by the right boot of Ben Askew but his shot blazed over the bar.

At the other end of the pitch, Westdyke had an opportunity in the sixth minute. Gregor Zimmermann skipped past three defenders, and then the Dyce keeper Elliot Wills, but was too far wide to score, so he unselfishly squared the ball to teammate Finlay Walker who cooly finished to make it 1-0 to Westdyke.

A second goal came only three minutes later when a shot from 30 yards by Westdyke’s man of the match and hat trick hero Sean Considine lobbed Dyce keeper Wills to make it 2-0

In the 13th minute a cross from Considine met the head of Miloz Ochmanski but Wills managed to parry the shot away and to keep the score at only 2-0.

A fourth chance in quick succession came for Westdyke as in the eighteenth minute, Westdykes moment of the match came. A cross from Walker was whipped in after a terrific ball by Westdyke’s Innes Alexander. The cross was finished by Considine to make it two for him and three for Westdyke.

The game entered a quiet spell but in the thirty-fifth minute it sprung back to life when a fourth goal for Westdyke came. A shot from Zimmermann went past the keepers gloves and rippled the back of the net from 20 yards out.

Half time came and went and the action was fast underway.

Dyce were first to strike was Dyce when in the eighth minute of the second half a cross from Dyce’s Harry Baird was met by Robbie Cowling who hit a bullet header into the back of the net and give Dyce a glimmer of home making it 4-1.

A second goal and Dyce’s Moment of the match came very quickly after their first and some fear was put into the heads of Westdyke. In the twelfth minute of the second half an over the top through ball was played by Dyce’s Connor May through to Dyce Man of the Match Jack Kidd who slotted the ball away neatly. 4-2.

The next goal in the game was going to be crucial and Westdyke got it and with that knocked the wind out of the Dyce sails. In the twenty first minute of the second half, after a shot from Considine went out for a corner, the resulting ball in by Miloz Ochmanski was met and fired into the back of the net by Considine to give him three goals on the day. This made it 5-2.

A fourth and final goal from Considine came when a ball in by Zimmermann was met and chopped in by Considine leaving the keeper surprised and Dyce defenders and coaches claiming for offside. This put the final nail in the coffin for Dyce and secured cup success for Westdyke.

Shortly before the end Miloz Ochmanski completed the scoring for Westdyke who thoroughly deserved to win the game 7-2.

Well done to everyone who played and well done to Westdyke on their league and cup success.
