CBC Hilton United came out on top in a fantastic cup final against Deveronvale with both teams playing some fantastic football and have to be commended for doing that.

This game was exciting for both teams, for Deveronvale, their first cup final for a few years and the first one under the Deveronvale Community Football Club banner, for CBC Hilton, a team that has developed over the years from being B League champions to winning their second cup as a team and on the verge of a first league championship.

Deveronvale have developed fantastically well throughout the last four years, Vale came close to relegation a couple of years ago however have followed that up with two successive mid-table finishes and a cup-final appearance. The first team management & the club captain were all in attendance to boost the healthy crowd.

Vale started the game the brighter side with Kyle Buxton in attack leading the line well against a resolute CBC Hilton defence, he took a few nasty challenges and had a shout for a penalty on 15 minutes disputed by the referee. Jamie Boylan had a chance at the other end denied by Jamie Williamson.

Buxton then played in Campbell McDermott for a good chance however a good save from Jack King denied the Vale captain, Kyle Smith had a chance for Hilton shortly after which went over.

Hilton started the pile up the pressure afterwards and their efforts were rewarded with a goal on 36 minutes, a fantastic ball by Stephen Holland found Jamie Boylan who tucked the ball past Williamson to guide his side in front.

Boylan struck again on the stroke of half time and you will struggle to see a better goal than this all season, Kyle Smith went on a fantastic run down the park before cutting into the right hand side of the park, Smith then sent a good delivery into the box which was met by Boylan who bicycle kicked the ball beyond Williamson into the net to double the advantage for the Aberdeen side.

Deveronvale lost a few influential players in the first half through injuries and the body language began to get negative however Vale still worked hard in the second period, six minutes after the interval, it was 3-0 with Boylan getting his hat-trick with a composed finish.

It was game, set and match as far as CBC were concerned however Deveronvale added their bit to the cup final by pulling a goal back on 52 minutes, a good strike by Neil Gillies gave Jack King no chance to reduce the leeway in the match.

Bailey Smart then got in on the act by making it 4-1 to CBC Hilton, Smart got into a dangerous position in the box before slicing the ball on target past the exposed Vale defence, hard for the Banff side to take considering how hard they worked.

On 60 minutes, it was 5-1 with Stephen Holland playing a fantastic ball which was met by Jack McPherson and the midfielder struck the ball well past Williamson.

Logan Fisher rounded things off for CBC Hilton on the 73rd minute with a thumping strike which went under the crossbar and into the net to round off a good afternoons work for the Aberdeen side, Vale as mentioned, played some positive football however were beaten by a good Hilton team who unsurprisingly are on the brink of the double.
