In a game where we saw all four seasons at New Tinto Park, Barrhead and Rossvale were involved in an entertaining affair to see who could progress to the Scottish Cup U21s final.

Things started slowly for both teams with Barrhead looking slightly stronger than Rossvale in the opening stages of the game, but no chances seriously threatened either goal.

As the game approached the half hour mark the first big chance came for Barrhead with Joseph Manderson striking well from the edge of the box, the ball was heading into the top corner of the goal however Rossvale keeper Stuart Goodfellow saved brilliantly to prevent Barrhead from taking the lead.

The resulting corner from Malcolm McDonald saw Barrhead come painfully close again when Dylan Stewart's header came crashing off the post. However, Rossvale's resolve broke down when the ball came back into the box just seconds later and Goodfellow failed to catch, leaving Dylan Stewart with the opportunity to finish this time, sending Barrhead 1-0 up.

Rossvale started to come back into the game after this as they looked for an equaliser, with a shot from John McCrae going just over the bar, however they were unable to score before the first half came to a close.

As the second half begun conditions deteriorated as sleet turned into snow. Fans disappeared from the stand to take shelter and also disappearing were any chance Rossvale had in the match as Barrhead went 2-0 up only 30 seconds after the restart. A fantastic solo goal saw Joseph Manderson collect his first of the day, running from the halfway line and weaving past the Rossvale centre-backs before slotting past the goalkeeper.

The Barrhead onslaught continued with McDonald's shot from 25 yards well saved just minutes later. It wasn't long before the Rossvale resolve started to disappear as Barrhead made it three with Manderson's second goal of the day. A simple route one ball from Barrhead keeper Stuart Collins went over the head's of the Rossvale defence leaving Manderson with a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, in which he finished calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

The floodgates now opened and it wasn't long before Barrhead were 4-0 up. With the defence all at sea, Barrhead countered and a ball from McDonald through to Manderson allowed him the chance to complete his hat-trick, as he slotted home calmly past the keeper again into the corner to put Barrhead out of sight.

Substitute Aaron Boyle decided he wanted in on the action as well making it 5-0 after calmly finishing, nutmegging the keeper in the process. He picked up another goal just three minutes later, running past two defenders in the build up before firing the ball into the bottom corner to put Barrhead 6-0 up.

With Rossvale finally gaining composure and calming down they started to make waves at the end of the match. A sure consolation goal on the 83rd minute came after a Christopher McKeown shot came crashing off the post, however when the ball was fired back in John McCrae managed to guide the ball into the empty net.

Amazingly just four minutes later Rossvale managed to score again to make it 6-2 after a great shot from the edge of the box by Callum Holland came off the post before going into the net. However, the speculative comeback was definitely left too late by Rossvale and the game came to a close at New Tinto Park seeing Barrhead finish as 6-2 winners, progressing to the final.

Jospeh Manderson - Undoubtedly the matchball went to Manderson who managed to fire home a second half hat-trick in the space of just 22 minutes
John McCrae - After a difficult day for Rossvale, McCrae was one of the key men who continued to keep his head and look hungry for a potential comeback throughout the game. He bagged a goal for Rossvale late on however the comeback was left too late.
Magic Moment
Barrhead YFC
Man of the match Joseph Manderson's first goal from his hat-trick was an incredible solo effort. Collecting the ball from the halfway line just at the start of the second half, Manderson did brilliantly to get past the Rossvale defence and put Barrhead 2-0 up, putting them in a very strong position for the rest of the game.
With a consolation just minutes earlier, a fantastic finish from the edge of the box by Rossvale's Callum Holland saw the ball come crashing off the post and into the back of the net. The 2nd Rossvale goal gave an unlikely glimmer of hope for the comeback of all comebacks, however it was too late and proved to be Rossvale's final goal as the match ended 6-2
