Banks O'Dee Albion came away with a 4-2 win away at Deveronvale, with the hosts deserving a lot of credit for battling against the table toppers for the duration of the game. There wasn't a lot between the teams with a couple of mistakes from the hosts being the difference.

The visitors were missing a few influential players with Harris Clubb at the back in particular being a big miss. Clubb has been injured since October and is predicting a comeback round about April when it'll be the business end of the season. Albion still showed their quality however and had enough about them to merit the win.

Deveronvale had a couple of chances to open the scoring in the opening five minutes. Logan Macaulay Mill was in on goal however a good effort was thwarted by Owen Forsyth in the visiting goal. Lucas Sey was also tumbled over in the area for the hosts with a couple of protests from the home camp however it wasn't malicious enough for the referee to award a spot-kick.

Albion took the lead on 10 minutes, taking advantage of a lapse of concentration from Vale when an Alfie Knox effort was tipped onto the crossbar by Curtis West before Corey Stevenson headed the ball onto the crossbar before crossing the line. A smashing header from Stevenson who was the smallest player on the park, shows that you don't need height to have talent.

Vale levelled just a couple of minutes later with Lucas Sey showing a great desire to get the hosts level again by battling against a couple of Albion defenders before breaking into the box and keeping his composure to slot the ball into the bottom left hand corner past Forsyth.

On 27 minutes, Banks O'Dee Albion took the lead with Knox once again giving Vale problems as his delivery found Hamish McKay who headed past the stranded West to put the Spain Park outfit back in control.

Albion doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time after a good ball found Adam Gordon who rounded West before firing the ball into the net from 10 yards which was a little bit harsh for Vale however for Albion, they showed their quality when it mattered, they have a strength and depth which has an advantage over the rest.

The second half was very limited in chances compared to the first half and Vale had an ambitious attempt to reduce the leeway after a long range strike took a bit of a bounce however Owen Forsyth was able to get back onto his goalline in time to thwart the ball crossing the line.

At the other end, Adam Gordon found Stevie Livingstone who hit a good effort across goal however only managed to find the side netting as both teams tried to get the next goal in this tight contest.

Albion went 4-1 up with the same two players combining, a fantastic ball by Livingstone found Gordon who found the far corner with a good strike giving West no chance on 47 minutes to complete a good mornings work however Deveronvale came back with more pressure to create an interesting end to the game.

On 55 minutes, a free kick by Lucas Sey was saved well by Forsyth on the edge of the box, the forward players for Albion did their duty however so did Forsyth in the Banks O'Dee Albion goal was some good saves.

Vale pulled a goal back two minutes from time after quick move allowed Callum Dunbar in who guided home a fine effort past Forsyth, never nice getting a defeat however effort and desire was certainly on show from the hosts. Congratulations to Banks O'Dee Albion and commiserations to Deveronvale.
