Northstar Orange Under 14s made it four wins out of four in the Spree ADJFA B league with a 1-0 win over Westdyke CC, both teams will be up there challenging for the league at the end of the season with not a lot to seperate the sides, a goal from Richard Sandison four minutes from half time was the difference.

Westdyke had the first chance of the game, a ball from Jude Masson found Jay Neil however a good save from Archie Stephen denied the striker. Northstar attacked at the other end a short time later and won a free kick, Jake Coutts had his free kick saved by Finlay Wilson.

Both teams were playing some good football however towards the tail end of the first half, nobody was really in any danger of scoring, there was little attacking threat but there was ambition from both teams.

Northstar took the lead four minutes before the break, a free kick came in which wasn't dealt with properly by the Westdyke backline and Richard Sandison was there to rattle the ball home into the top corner beyond Wilson to give the hosts the lead heading into half time.

Westdyke might have been losing however the football they played was a credit to themselves, Jude Masson had an effort for the Lawsondale outfit however a tame effort was denied by Archie Stephen, Masson then had a free kick at Stephen.

In what was a tame second half, Westdyke had another chance to pull level when Leighton Shand played in Jay Neil on 54 minutes however another good save from Archie Stephen denied the striker.

Congratulations to Northstar Orange and commiserations to Westdyke CC, it's a tough defeat for Westdyke however they will grow from that defeat and be stronger going forward, credit to Northstar Orange who have four wins out of four, they won the C League last season however were best based in the B league and have made a strong statement with a 100% record.

There is a lot of good teams at Under 14s level and the standard of football is quite high so credit to all the teams for producing a good brand of football.
