A very strong second half performance from Moray Pink was enough for them to take all three points in the Kim Little Under 13s league at Northfield Academy on Saturday morning. Of course, it's seven-a-side football and all the impetus should be on kids enjoying their football and although the scoreline suggests that there was a five goal difference between the teams, both teams played very well.

Northstar had the first real opportunity of the game, a long kick found Amy Merson however her shot went straight at Willow Searle in the Moray goal with Northstar playing some good exchanges of football.

Moray Pink were also playing some exciting football and Caitlin McLeod had a long range effort for Moray go wide followed by another good opportunity after a ball was played in by Millie Carr however McLeod saw her effort denied by Demi-Leigh Rennie.

Another good ball from Carr found Alexa Mann which was denied by another good save from Rennie in the Northstar goal. 0-0 at half time with both goalkeepers making some fantastic saves.

Moray came out of the traps quick in the second half and were a level above Northstar in the opening period of the half, a ball from Carr found Millie McKenzie who guided the ball into the bottom right hand corner from close range.

Carr then got herself on the scoresheet which was rewards for a good mornings work, Carr went on a dashing run before finding the net with a slotted finish to double Morays advantage.

On 40 minutes it was 3-0, a shot from Romily Cruickshank found the roof of the net in what was a good effort from the substitute, Moray were playing some fantastic football and it was a bit harsh on Northstar who also played some good football over the course of the 60 minutes.

Cruickshank then went from scorer to provider playing in a good ball which found Alexa Mann who tapped the ball home from close range to put Moray 4-0 up three minutes later.

Northstar reduced the deficit with Amy Merson having a deflected effort going in past Willow Searle, the goal was a rewarding one for Northstar doing very well with a depleted team and they have picked up some good results this season.

Moray completed the scoring in the closing exchanges of the game with an extra two goals coming from Millie McKenzie nine minutes from time with a half volley after a good movement from the Elgin side. McLeod added a sixth with a long range shot.

A good game of football, congratulations ot Moray Pink and commiserations to Northstar Cosmos.
