Banks O’Dee Albion took home the Belmont Trophy with a 7-0 win against Stonehaven YFC City, however Stonehaven didn’t disgrace themselves by any stretch with the game being a good advert for ADJFA football.
Banks O’Dee Albion started the brighter of the two teams however Stonehaven YFC City were very organised and made life difficult for the Spain Park side in the opening exchanges of the game. Logan Watt had the first opportunity for the visitors after only five minutes when he rounded Jamie Boath however a good block by the goalkeeper denied the tall striker the chance to score.
Albion kept the pressure on with Watt having a header at Boath followed by Kyle Murphy having a long range strike which looked goal bound however it just flew wide of going into the top right hand corner.
Logan Watt opened the scoring for Banks O’Dee Albion on 20 minutes when he got the better of the Stonehaven defender by using his physical presence and Watt then fired home a fine finish into the bottom left hand corner from close range. That goal set the scene for the rest of the half.
Albion would keep going at Stonehaven immediately after the restart and were 2-0 up shortly after, a header from Cameron Jappy found Watt who got his second goal of the game sliding the ball under Boath in the City goal.
The Spain Park outfit made it 3-0 just before half time when a ball came in from Lyall Keir which was met by Cameron Jappy who knocked home a fine effort, it came at a good time for Albion which helped their confidence going into the second half.
