Culter United 2005s enjoy B League success

Written by

Culter United Under 13s have won the B League title and are now in preparations for A league football next season at Under 14s level. Culter United were in a regional trophy group at the start of the season with Dyce BC and Newmachar United, three really good teams with United ending up in the B League.

United completed their season on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Portlethen which meant a 100% record in all 18 games was confirmed in what was a great achievement for all involved with Culter United 2005s.

Culter United coach Simon Longhurst said: "We wanted to start in the B league however the group draw to determine which league we would go in wasn't the greatest, we knew Dyce would be a bottom league A side and we have had some good games with Newmachar so it could have been a situation where we were either in the A league or C league, it all panned out alright.

"We could never have imagined that at the start of the season, we wanted to finish top half in the B league, to stay undefeated let alone draw is quite incredible, it's been credit to the players as they haven't steamrolled any team, they have had to work hard for the points every week, they have been behind in some of the games too so things haven't went our own way.

"It was the two games against Colony Park that kind of swung it in our favour, we beat them 1-0 back in February then played them recently and won the game 4-0 and it was the best we played all season, all the parents and the coaches were so proud of the players that day because they done so well and that was a turning point.

"We looked at the table after 5-6 games and thought we have a good chance here, success always has people looking over your shoulder and we have players at the club that would grace any A league team and all you can do is make your club as attractive as possible, we try to create an environment so that players can enjoy their football, it's a happy camp just now, I think if we keep the squad and add a couple of players that we will give it a right good go in the A league."

Congratulations to all at Culter United 2005 on their success!
