A professional performance from the visitors was enough for Banchory to pick up a good 4-0 win away to Newmachar and earn promotion back to the A league. The calculations were simple ahead of this one, Newmachar United had to win the game to have any chance of a top two finish, a draw could have been enough. A win for Banchory and A league football for next season was cemented.
Banchory started the game on the front foot with Trevor Glansbeek playing a good ball into Daniel Ogden however his effort was knocked just wide after three minutes, a long range shot from Ben Read was then denied by Aidan Wood.
Nothing separated the teams in the first half with both sides playing some very good football which was good to see with Charlie Gordon Park very cut up after drainage problems at the ground.
The visitors opened the scoring 10 minutes before the interval when Cameron McPhail was released through on goal after a good through ball and the midfielder made no mistake by guiding the ball past Wood bouncing off the post and into the back of the net. Newmachar switched off at the wrong time and Banchory made them pay.
