A comfortable victory for Fraserburgh Link-Up saw them progress into the semi-finals of the Castle Trophies Cup where they will be at home to either Glentanar or Lewis United. These sides played earlier in the season in another cup tie which Fraserburgh came out on top winning 2-0.

The Broch started the game on the front foot & Cove started the game fairly organised. Jay Ridgeway had a good opening chance for Cove in the opening exchanges of the game however his effort was denied by Andrew Dunbar.

Fraserburgh went ahead in the 11th minute with Mantas Cepulis having a long range effort which was too much for Samuel Paterson in the visiting goal. Colby King then tried to get an equaliser at the other end for Cove however his effort was denied again by Dunbar.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute. A Lewis Noble effort who was unmarked bounced off the woodwork & in. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the Broch & Cove deserve huge credit for the way they played during the 1st half however Fraserburgh putting their A League status to full use.

Whatever Fraserburgh Link-Up Coach David Blackhall said in his half time team talk certainly worked as the Broch stepped it up a gear in the 2nd half. The Broch then got three quick fire goals within 12 minutes of the restart.

Andrew Parry got the 3rd goal with a simple strike into the net before a solo effort from Scott Murison made it 4-0. Parry added to the tally in the 52nd minute after an initial effort had been parried by Paterson.

When Fraserburgh get clicking, they are a very good team to watch. Ryan Ogston joined the party in the 55th minute after a ball down the channel from Ross Wilson was meant by the forward & he slid the ball home under the goalkeeper.

Parry kept up his composure to get his 3rd & 4th of the game moments later with his 3rd being a hammered finish into the back of the net before an unmarked header made it hard for Cove to deal with who had a lot of positive moments in the game regardless of the fact that Fraserburgh were well on top & dominating.

Fraserburgh are a good team at set pieces & Ogston made it 9-0 with a slotted finish before they completed the job thanks to a Cepulis header & another fine finish from Ogston. It was tough for Cove who were positive despite the scoreline & it would have been disappointed to get a scoreline credited like that against them however they need to take the positives from the 1st half & build on from it.

Link-Up are a very good team & have already beaten Middlefield Wasps who are top of the league & will give many other big teams scares along the way during the course of the season. The Broch remain on course to reach 2 cup finals this season & a high league finish. You can't assess a team based on this kind of game however Broch have the potential to do very well this season.

Andrew Parry - It was a good team performance however Andrew led the line very well for the Broch & got his deserved goals.
Jay Ridgeway - Even though it was a defeat from Cove, I thought Jamie did well up front for Cove & deserved a goal.
