GPH Aberdeenshire & District League/North Of Scotland Under 20 League Review – 13th November 2017

The wintry weather is starting to kick in & this resulted in a couple of postponements across the GPH Aberdeenshire & District League & North Of Scotland Under 20s card.

GPH Aberdeenshire & District League

Inverurie Locos vs Fraserburgh & Cove Rangers vs Keith were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Banks O’Dee picked up a vital win away to top of the league Turriff United winning 3-2. This result put the Spain Park outfit 4 points behind Turriff with 3 games in hand. A Jason Ritchie own goal gave the hosts a great start before Banks O’Dee levelled thanks to a good strike from Mitchell McPherson.

Ritchie then made amends for his own goal by putting the visitors in front with a towering header before sub Angus Grant equalised. Calum McKenzie secured the 3 points for Banks O’Dee with another good hit.

Huntly beat Deveronvale 4-3.The hosts raced into a 4-0 half time lead thanks to goals from Reece McKeown, David Vaughan & a brace from Calvin Roddie before Vale restored pride in the 2nd half thanks to a Kyle Gauld brace & a William Pauline penalty. Huntly go level on points with the Princess Royal Park outfit after this result.

Meanwhile, Formartine United picked up a fine 5-1 win away to bottom of the league Buckie Thistle.

North Of Scotland Under 20s

Nairn County v Alness United & Forres Mechanics v Brora Rangers were both postponed.

Clachnacuddin v Elgin City got the green light though & spectators were treated to 10 goals at Grant Street Park including 6 goals from former Inverness CT & Albion Rovers forward Calum Ferguson with Ali Sutherland also adding to the tally for City. Elgin City manager Robbie Hope fielded a strong line-up with 1st team centre half Darryl McHardy also playing for the Borough Briggs outfit.
