A place in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup was at stake at Davidson Park, Inverurie when Colony Park hosted Lewis United Youth. There was a host different weathers during the game, the majority being rain & wind.
Lewis reached the final of the Scottish Cup last season before being curtailed by a heavy defeat to Tynecastle. The Aberdeen outfit have lost a number of key players during the summer, in particular striker Robert Ward who signed for Dundee United. Colony won promotion from the B league last season and have made a good start to the season & impressed in this encounter.
Colony made a good start to the game and opened the scoring after 6 minutes. A loose pass was capitalised on by Daniel Middler at the halfway mark who then went on a great run and slotted the ball home to give the Inverurie outfit the perfect start. Colony were really positive in their play whenever they went forward.
Lewis had a slow start to the game however got into the game as it progressed. Cameron Heslop tried to pull United level in the 14th minute however his effort gone over the bar after the Colony defence put pressure on the Lewis midfielder.
The visitors pulled level on the half hour mark through Ben Marr whose effort had come off Fraser Scott however had enough power in the shot to find its way into the back of the net.
