Colin Campbell Sports have one more satisfied customer in Stornoway United FC. The club, who play in the Lewis and Harris Youth Football Association League, recently purchased new kit from the renowned sportswear firm, and YFS spoke to coach of the under 18’s age group, Steven Munro, to find out more about the club and their new strip.

When seeking new kit, Munro said that Colin Campbell Sports was their first choice of supplier. He said, “Our club went to Colin Campbell Sports as I have had previous dealings with Scott and the service I have received is always of the highest standard. Scott has been excellent to deal with, and the service has been to the usual high standard.'

Colin Campbell provide kit specifically tailored to the needs of each club and offer many established brands as they strive to provide both quality and value for their customers. Munro said, “Our club has purchased team kit and training tops. The brand of our kit is Stanno, and the colours are black and orange.”

Storonoway United FC was founded in 1945, and currently have youth teams across the age groups from under 9’s to under 18’s. They also have a senior team, allowing those leaving the under 18’s age group to continue their involvement with the club.

The senior team, reformed in 2003, play their football in the Lewis and Harris Football League. Playing summer football, the club’s season will begin in April and, in addition to their new kit, are preparing for the beginning of the season by securing their sponsors with local businesses and hosting fundraising events, including a curry night on the 25th of March.

The youth teams play in the Lewis and Harris Youth Football Association, which was started in 1945. The league accommodates the U13’s, U15’s and U18’s age groups with around eight teams in each league, although league chairperson, Keith Bray, describes the U13’s league as ‘festival-based and not a formal league.’

Bray also spoke of the advantages of playing a summer football season. He said, “Our league runs from April to September. We have the advantage of better weather and the condition of the grass pitches is much better!”

Everyone at YFS wishes Stornoway Unit
ed and all of the teams competing in the Lewis and Harris Youth Football Association, and in the Lewis and Harris Football League, all the best for the season ahead.
