Lewis United Youth were the A league champions last season however a dip in form has seen them slip down the table with defeats to Banks O’Dee Albion, Westdyke and Cove.

Westdyke are currently in pole position however Albion have 2 games in hand and are still undefeated in the league. Two wins for Lewis United will see them go 3 points behind Westdyke.

The bottom of the table will see FDS, Glentanar and Culter Boys with the latter unable to pick up a point after 6 attempts. There are still a lot of points to be won and lost in this league and Westdyke are improving season on season and will make life hard for their main rivals Albion and Lewis.

David Reid spoke to Westdyke CC manager Dave McGinlay who has come in this season to help out the team who his son Max played for.

McGinlay said “I came in this season and can see there is a lot of potential within this team, our season has been good so far win 7 wins and 2 losses in the league. The losses were against Lewis United and Albion however we managed to beat Lewis United 5-2 afterwards.

“I have been pleased the attitude of the boys and we would like to win some silverware at the end of the season.“

The former Huntly manager also revealed he is looking for a new goalkeeper. Any interested parties can contact Dave on 07711376095.

A number of sides are still in the hunt to play A league football next season. Currently top are Colony Park and Ellon Meadows with Huntly 3rd just a point behind the top 2.

Huntly got themselves into the next round of the Castle Trophies Cup after a 3-2 win over A league side Glentanar on Saturday and they have made massive strides as a team. They will travel to Colony or Fraserburgh Link-Up in the next round.

Westdyke Thistle has also had a good season to date despite their 5th place position with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. Banchory Boys Hawks are another one who has only been defeated once however have had 5 draws which has hampered them having an attempt at promotion.

It will be a battle against the wooden spoon for Colony Colts, Formartine United Reds, Longside and Kemnay. The latter have failed to pick up a point after 10 attempts.
