SYFA Cup 2016/17 - U16 R4 draw

Written by
Wednesday saw the Scottish Youth FA draw the ties for the fourth round of the inspiresport Scottish Youth FA Cup, hot on the heels of a packed weekend of third round action. The last 32 stage will take place on the weekend of November 19th & 20th. It is the penultimate round of the calendar year, with round five scheduled for early December, before the winter break.

The Under 16 age group is littered with 'big hitters', who know exactly what this competition is all about. The name Portobello CFA may have no previous success in this competition, but don't let that fool you. They are a newly formed club taking the place of Edina Hibs, who have won the competition twice out of three attempts at this age group. They host Paisley champions Cantera in what is arguably the tie of the round.

Two 'big guns' meet as Syngenta Juveniles host Tynecastle. Both of these sides are looking very strong domestically and will have high hopes of going far in the competition, should they progress.

Two clubs that have made a big impact in the community but less so in this competition are Gartcairn FA and Musselburgh Youngstars. They host Broxburn Athletic Colts and Mill United respectively.

Crosshouse BC Athletic (pictured, right) were impressive winners over Lochgelly in the last round and they've been rewarded with a home tie against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, who made this stage of last year's competition.

The other reigning champions in this competition, BSC Glasgow, have a tricky third round tie against Fairmuir to negotiate. If they win, it's another team from the DDYFA that'll come calling, in the form of Arbroath Lads Club.

The East Region have a guaranteed last 16 berth, as Glenrothes Athletic host Dryburgh Athletic in what will be a keenly contested Fife v Dundee clash. East Craigie Swifts and Rosyth FC Fury are also flying the flag for Fife, hosting Edinburgh City Real and Clydebank FC respectively.
