Scottish Cup day had arrived on Inverurie and what a match the spectators were in for as Jeanfield Swifts made the 2 hour drive to Aberdeenshire to take on Inverurie Locos. Locos have been in fine form with some great results in the league this season.
Swifts were bolstered by the return of Boyd Ferguson for this fixture. Ferguson had a broken eye socket and cheekbone and there isn’t a better way to return than in a Scottish Cup tie.
Locos were on top in the early exchanges of the game and had a few half chances to draw first blood on Halloween weekend however they were to no avail.
It was the visitors who took the lead against the run of play after a long range effort by Richard Donavan was only parried by Locos keeper Keller Emslie and Cameron Ogg was right on the spot to tuck the ball into an empty net to give the Perth outfit the lead.
Both sides struggled to get a foothold in this game and there was a lot of occasions after the goal where there was a lot of hot potato stuff and a lot of pointless balls and decisions directed by both teams.
Locos drew level after a great ball from Jordan Cooper found Jamie Lind who took the ball within his strive and then volleyed into the roof of the net.
Jamie Lind was showing some promising signs up front for Locos and he got himself on the score sheet and it was a delightful goal to please the spectators after the forward received the ball before hitting a 1st time shot past Jordan Kinnon.
It was all guns blazing for Locos after that point and in the 27th minute it was 3-1 after Jordan Cooper played a great ball into the 6 yard area and Cameron Watt was there to guide the ball home for the Aberdeenshire men.
Locos all but put the game to bed on the stroke of half time after a great ball by Mitchell Cheyne from his own area found Watt who slotted the ball past Kinnon.
