Venue: Balgownie Playing Fields
Date: Tuesday, 24th May 2016
This year’s Consolation Cup final, for the Under 16's, was contested between Colony Colts and local rivals Formartine United.  Formartine started the brighter and had a shot headed off the line in the first minute by Callum Taylor. Colony responding with two corners, which unfortunately didn't lead to any reward.
Formartine opened the scoring running in on goal and slid a shot under the advancing Colony keeper.
Colony responded quickly with two goals. The first followed great play down the left, by Luke Mackie, who powered through three Formartine players. His shot having beaten the keeper, was about to be cleared off the line by the covering defender but it was pounced on by Jamie Reid to push it over the line.
Reid then ensured Colony took a lead in at half-time scoring into the top corner from a penalty.
Half Time: Colony Colts 2-1 Formartine United
The second half saw the never say die attitude from Formartine who scored the leveler from a corner.
It was at this point the Colts grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck with a Ross Allan header striking the crossbar, before Callum Taylor scored, from the edge of the area with a sweet shot into the bottom corner. following skillful midfield play from Murray Liddell and Kyran Ebbrell.
Jamie Reid increased Colony's lead and scored his hat-trick from close range again showing his striker's instinct to get on the end of every ball.
With time running out for Formartine they pushed forward, which created more space for the Colt's midfield who put the game beyond doubt with two further fantastic goals.
Ross Allan scored, from 25 yards, after spotting the keeper off his line and judging his lob to perfection.
Following a foul on the edge of the box Murray Liddell rounded off a 'man of the match' performance with a ferocious drive high into the corner of the net from a tight angle.
The Colony defence of Lewis Weetman, Kyle Sutherland, Ben Simpson, Lewis Paver and substitute Owen MacKintosh stood firm and dealt with everything Formatine threw at them and, with some brave goalkeeping from Steven Hutcheson, the win was never going to slip away.
Colony made changes getting Kyle McIntosh, John Gray, Aaron Bowie and Connor McLeod on who all contributed to ensure a well-deserved winning finale to the season.
