Formartine United edge out Dee Boys Club in 12 goal thriller

Written by  Formartine United

Fixture: Formartine United v Dee BC U16
Competition: Presidents Cup Round 1
Date: 26th September 2015

These two teams played out an exciting 3-3 draw just two weeks ago and this game was just as, if not more entertaining, end to end with some good open play mixed in with poor defending from both teams.

Dee BC kicked off down the slope and within 5 minutes due to a defensive mix up took an early lead. Formartine hadn't woken up yet.

However, within a minute Jamie Mc had equalised for Formartine. Keeping the ball well the ball was switched wide, and after good work from Scott E down the flank his ball in was met by Jamie who finished off the move superbly.

Formartine continued to press and took the lead through Aaron McK. Yet again, Formartine kept the ball well and Aaron stuck the ball expertly beyond the Dee keeper for 2-1.

Dee BC were not giving in that easy and again after defensive errors the score was level again. Without going into much detail, it's safe to say the defence weren't on top of their game today!

20 minutes on the clock and Dee took the lead again because of poor defending and communications form the Formartine back line. (Needless to say 3 errors led to 3 goals)

As Dee BC pushed on again the Formartine defenders thought that hey had conceded a penalty but the referee determined it was diving and booked the offending player. Formartine began to take more control of the midfield and after some very good inter passing Braden R scored a very good equaliser. Great finish to level the score for the 3rd time in the game. 3-3 now.

Formartine tried very hard to just hold on until half time to take advantage of the slope but again in the very last minute of the half very poor defending and lack of responsibility let Dee BC in to take the lead again. What a first half this was.

Half Time: Formartine United 3-4 Dee BC

Formartine started the second half by changing to a more offensive formation playing down the slope but Dee BC were playing their hearts out determined to keep the lead. but they succumbed after just 15 minutes of the half when a good move down the left flank resulted in a good deep cross from Aaron D finding Aaron McK at the far post to head home. Scores are level yet again in this pulsating match.

This was the impetus Formartine needed and they run in two more goals both from Aaron D to put daylight between them and Dee BC, but credit to Dee BC they did not capitulate and after a good save from Jack R in the Formartine goal he could not stop a Dee BC forward volleying home the rebound. 6-5 with only minutes on the clock.

Despite Dee pushing for the equaliser, the come back was short lived as Aaron McK completed his hat trick after good work by Aaron R and James A down the right wing to cross for the goal. MOM was Aaron McK for his well taken three goals.

Full Time: Formartine United 7-5 Dee BC
