
Portlethen Academy beat their Kincardineshire rivals Banchory Academy to win the Aberdeenshire Schools FA Cup Final after a 2-1 win at The Meadows in Ellon.
Banchory had the game’s first chance as Alisha Rees’ long range shot from the left went just wide of the target. Rees then had another opportunity as her shot was saved by Erin Christie inside the box after being set up by Rachel Henderson.
Portlethen had their first chance of the game as Johan Fraser set up Brook Farquhar whose shot was saved by Banchory goalkeeper Becky Flaherty.
It was Banchory though who took the lead as Henderson’s shot went past the goalkeeper with Rees finishing to make it 1-0.
Portlethen had two good chances before the end of the first half as Farquhar found Lauren Miller who shot from inside the right hand side of the box went wide. They then hit the crossbar as Fraser hit a powerful strike from inside the box.
