Convincing win for Middlefield in B league clash

Middlefield Wasps got a convincing 8-2 victory against Dee BC in an enjoyable B League match on a glorious Easter Sunday at Balmedie’s Beach Park. A hat trick from Lewis Mitchell, a double each from Brian Carr and Reece McKeown and a penalty from Dylan Pirie secured an emphatic victory for the hosts.
It was Middlefield who had the game’s first opportunities as Marcelin Helinski’s pass found McKeown, whose shot from outside the box just went wide of the target. McKeown then had a long range effort that went wide as Middlefield looked to score the opening goal.
Middlefield did take the lead as Brian Carr’s ball in from the left found McKeown who headed the ball into the net to make it 1-0.
Dee looked for the equaliser and a shot from Lewis Hay was well saved by Lewis Mitchell in the Middlefield goal.
Middlefield looked to extend their lead as Carr’s pass found Dylan Pirie, whose effort from the left hand side of the box was well saved by Dee goalkeeper Javid Ali.
Middlefield made it 2-0 as McKeown’s pass found L. Mitchell who slotted home with a neat finish to double Middlefield’s lead.
It was 3-0 a minute later as McKeown found Pirie whose shot was saved by Ali with L. Mitchell slotting home the rebound to further extend Middlefield’s lead.
As Middlefield looked to make it 4-0, McKeown found Carr whose effort from outside the box hit the crossbar.
They did make it 4-0 as Benoit Thies found Mitchell with a good pass and he slotted home to seal his hat trick in a thirteen minute spell.

Three minutes into the second half Middlefield went 5-0 up as a great run down the right from Thies saw him find McKeown whose shot was saved only for him to score the rebound.
Despite the scoreline Dee looked to get back into the game and a shot from Josh Watt deflected onto the crossbar. From the resulting corner Khian Walsh narrowly headed over the bar.
Middlefield looked to extend their lead and good play from L. Mitchell found Thies whose shot was well saved by Ali in the Dee goal.
It was 6-0 as Pirie’s pass found Carr whose shot from inside the box found the back of the net to further extend Middlefield’s lead.
Middlefield continued to look for another goal and Carr had three consecutive close range efforts majestically saved by Dee goalkeeper Ali.
Middlefield made it 7-0 as Carr’s shot from inside the box hit the post and went into the goal for his side’s seventh of the match.
Middlefield won a penalty and Pirie’s low penalty found the back of the net to make it 8-0 to the hosts.
Despite the scoreline Dee never gave up and were rewarded for their efforts as Walsh found himself through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he slotted home to pull a goal back for his side.
Dee scored their second goal of the match as Zen Choudry headed home from a corner kick to score with the last action of the match.
