Fixture: Huntly v East End BC
Competition: SoccerWorld League A
Date: Saturday 6th March 2015
A strong performance from Huntly ensured they took all three points against a hard-working East End side in a game that could have went a lot differently.
In the opening stages, the game took a while to settle down but it was Huntly who gathered themselves and had the better of the chances.
David Clark and Brad Mills both carved out chances but squandered early opportunities to take the lead. On 25 minutes a Huntly spell of possession ended resulting in a free-kick being conceded to East End who then went onto score drectly with a well placed strike.
Both sides were having their moments in this match as it proved to be a close encounter.
Huntly took control of the game again but could not penetrate East Ends resilient defence. Five minutes from half-time, Huntly's Aaron Penny and Clark combined well to which Clark's cross found the run of Brad Mills, who tucked the ball away nicely in the bottom corner and level the score.
Half Time: Huntly 1-1 East End BC
Huntly had performed well in the first half and they started brightly coming into the second as they intended to take the upper hand.
From kick off David Clark played the ball back to Hogan Ruddell in midfield, Ruddell played a first time pass for Clark to run on to and round the keeper making it 2-1 to the home side.
Minutes later, Huntly were on the attack again and looking to capitalise on their opponent's loss of concentration.
Penny played in a corner from the right which was cleared by East End only for the ball to come back into Hogan Ruddell to slot the ball home with his left foot.
With a two-goal lead established, Huntly appeared to take their foot off the peddle and slow the game down having dominated throughout.
In the 60th minute, a carbon copy of the third goal was scored. Failure to properly clear from a corner seen the ball fall to Penny to strike from 18 yards and put the game out of sight.
The Huntly pressure continued despite a strong fight from the away side but the attacking quality prevailed in the end as Huntly ran out comfortable winners.
