Culter's first half performance is the difference against Middlefield

Written by  Culter United

Fixture: Middlefield Wasps v Culter United
Competition: Under 13's ADJFA "A" League
Date: 22/02/15
Conditions were not conducive to purist football as there were gale force winds, rain and a squelchy, exposed pitch situated just behind the sand dunes of Balmedie Beach.
Culter started the game brightly to take a 2 goal lead in the opening 10 minutes. Both goals were well worked, the first resulting from a cross from the right from Kalvin O’Hare that was slotted home from the penalty spot by Murray Addison. The second was a mirror image sent in from the left  and scored from a similar position by Kyle Simons. Lifted by this good start Culter went on to dominate the half without adding to the score line.
Against the run of play, Middlefield Wasps scored a well taken goal after their centre forward, Cameron Bissett, outpaced the Culter centre backs and bravely won a 50-50 with the on-coming  Culter Goalie, Arran Broch to fire the ball low in to the net.
This goal was to provide great confidence to Middlefield who bravely battled on to dominate the second half. Culter were at 6's and 7's in the second half as Middlefield pressed without getting the goal they deserved. This was in part due to stellar performances from both Culter full backs, Mitch Argo and Lewis McEwan as well as some excellent stops by Arran Broch.
A few changes to Culter midfield line up allowed the hard working Stevie Alexander and Murray Addison to link together, pushing Rhys Thomas to lone striker role. A superb ball from Stevie released Rhys who ran on before squaring theb all to Stevie to make a simple pass in to the net with 2 minutes to go – giving all 3 points to Culter.
Great effort and attitude was shown by all players to keep the tempo up all game in such challenging conditions.
