Cove and North Star share the points

Written by  Cove BC

Fixture: Cove BC v North Star Phoenix
Competition: Under 15's ADJFA "B" League
Date: 22/02/15
After drawing last week in a force 5 gale both teams were hoping for better weather this week to play a decent match. Unfortunately 5 minutes into the game the sleet and snow started and never let up the whole game making for a hard slog for both teams.
North Star started the game really well and created a few chances in the first 10 minutes although never really testing the Cove keeper.
Cove were struggling to get into the game and North Star deservedly took the lead in the 13th minute, a good passage of play down the right let the right midfield in for a shot which the Cove keeper did well to block but the ball fell into the path of Jordan Baillie who cooly slotted it home.
North kept the pressure on and in 25 minutes only a great save by Gibson in the Cove goal, pushing a net bound shot onto the bar, kept it at 1-0.
After not really being in the game Cove were lucky to go in at half time just the one goal down.
Half Time : Cove BC 0-1 North Star Phoenix
Second half saw Cove finally waken up and really take the game to North Star. As much as North had the better hand first half it was now Cove who were dominating all over the park.
After passing up a couple of half chances Cove equalised 11 mins in when Adam Murray pounced on a loose ball in the box and drilled it into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.
Cove sensed victory and as much as the weather didn't let up neither did the Cove pressure. Although they were dominating they were not creating any clear cut chances and every corner saw the ball pinging about in the box but never seemed to fall to a Cove player.
Cove were being wasteful in front of goal and almost paid the price when a North corner found Robertson unmarked but his header was cleared off the line.
The final chance came when Cove's Pickarski broke free but struck his shot too near the keeper who made an easy save.
A game of 2 half's, but Cove probably feeling they had enough chances to win the match.
Credit to all players, staff and supporters for braving the conditions today.
