| Aberdeen lays down the Law with mouth-watering festival | |
![]() The Denis Law Soccer Tournament (formerly the Aberdeen International Football Festival) returns to Aberdeen Sports Village this summer. Last year's inaugural event was a tremendous success with teams from across the globe competing at the Under 16 age group and Derby County coming out on top (click here for full 2011 review).
This year is bigger and better than ever with seven packed days of grass roots football action. A girls' football festival and ladies full international, between Scotland and Cameroon, kicks off the action on Sunday 15th July. The tournament's opening ceremony follows later that evening, and those taking part in 2012 are as follows:
Under 14s (1998)
Aberdeen FC, Albion BC, Dundee FC, Ross County and VBK Stavanger.
Under 16s (1996)
Group A: Aberdeen FC, Dundee FC, Keith FC and Albion BC.
Group B: Motherwell FC, Inverness CT, Broomhill Juniors and Ross County.
Group matches will take place from Monday - Wednesday at both age groups, with the semi finals being played across Thursday and Friday, before finals day on Saturday.
Off the main pitch there is a soccer school (for more information visit the Aberdeen Sports Village website by clicking here) and a number of community events, a corporate 7s tournament and an abundance of social activities for the players involved.
YFS and YFS TV will be present to provide coverage from throughout the week. Stay tuned for more udpates in the build up to what promises to be a youth football event to remember.
