I can assure you that 90% of referees do it for enjoyment and not for financial gain. Most people forget that we have to pay tax on these earnings and the names are forwarded to hmrc by the SFA of all active referees and we also have cars to run to get to matches so i think its unfair to say we all do it for the £35 drinking money.

In reference to the penalty incident you are correct it can't be offside as he is behind the ball but it can be a freekick for encroachment if he is the only player to encroach, if a defending player encroached aswell then its a retake.

I witnessed a player being fouled then the ball kicked at him delibrately then being booked for shouting "Wt are you daein"...Also recently a player who`s team were 8-1 down running about kicking everything that moved when asked to do something about this told the coach."For gods sake your 8-1 up".....Dont agree with dissent but surely player protection is important..
