Being a follower of SFL Division 2 I have to say, while I was apprehensive when it was brought in, the play-off system is working a treat. 3 games to go and every single team has something to play for, you can' ask for much more than that.

Now for a lot of youth leagues, which run on a 1 Division basis, this would be irrelevant. But for those that have 2 or more divisions at certain age groups, I pose you this...

Would the same sort of setup work for your youth league? It has got to the stage of the season where certain teams are sitting in midtable fulfilling their fixtures without much to play for. It's a bit of a turn off for certain players, who are already mentally on their summer holidays.

Take for example the WOS Under 21s...

If rather than the traditional 2 up 2 down, the 2nd bottom was to play off with the 2nd, 4th and 5th place teams, it would have the following outcomes:

Div 1: 6 more teams with something to play for.
Div 2: 3 more teams with something to play for.
Div 3: The exception to the rule, where 4 teams are already cast adrift of the chasing pack.

A good thing? Or unfair on the team who comes 2nd?

I think ANYTHING to enhance our game, bring something new in.
Least worth a look/try.

Obviously older levels. I wouldn't do this 13's/14s for example.
No real need for more pressure there.

Good shout though bud.
Pity these forums don't talk Robbie. Everyone reads them. For some reason, no replies.
Wonder why. really.

Would this work though as i don't think there are any set rules for teams being promoted or relegated.

At the end of the day, it is the club's choice whether to stay in said division or be promoted. It's like that at age levels for the PJDYFL anyway. There is no promotion or relegation.

Yes - that is indeed the case in some leagues, Paul, but others adopt the 2 up 2 down policy.
