AC Irvine just get the better of KSC Barca

U13's Scottish Cup
KSC Parks, Kilwinning
06 September 2014
Welcome to Scottish Cup football, a nice sunny morning down at KSC Parks in Kilwinning. A fairly partisan KSC crowd and two teams battling out a tough fought game.
This was never going to be an easy game for AC and that was apparent fairly quickly, they did have a lot of possession early on but Barca were defending well, the breakthrough came from a good move on the right wing, the ball crossed into the box a flick on from Reece and a cracking strike from Chrissy gave AC Irvine the lead, 1-0.
Within a few minutes, Barca were level when a clumsy tackle saw AC give away a free kick just outside their own box.
AC keeper, Kierzo managed to get a hand to the strike but couldn't keep it out, 1-1.
AC regained the lead shortly after that when after having delivered the third corner in a row, Charlie's high cross just past the near post saw the keeper fumble the ball into his own net.
Half Time: AC Irvine 2-1 KSC Barca
Barca kicked off the second half and again had a couple of good attacks break down and thankfully, Kierzo was on his toes.
It wasn't long, however, until AC were on the attack again and a clumsy challenge just inside the box saw them win a penalty. Owen stepped up and casually put the ball into the net high to the keepers right hand side to give the home side a 3-1 lead.
Chrissy was again proving to be a handful for Barca's defence and a great run down the left saw him outrun his marker and cut back onto his right foot and simply bend the ball into the net for AC to go 4-1 up and maybe gave them the feeling that it was game over.
Barca fought back strongly and never gave up. They got back into it when a dropped ball after a clash of heads saw them get a break and their forward managed to chip the ball over an advancing Kierzo for Barca’s second goal of the game.
Barca now had the momentum and attacked the AC box and a deep ball into the back post resulted in a penalty to Barca and their captain dispatched it well, high into the roof of the net to make it 4-3.
AC were rattled a bit and had to ride the storm. There were a few meaty tackles going in and AC’s Ben took a right sore one and had to be withdrawn.
Barca were still in the ascendancy and they grabbed the equaliser with a well worked move on the right and good strike to make it complete the comeback and bring the game to level terms at 4-4.
There was less than five minutes to go and at 4-4 it looked a cert for a draw, Barca were very unlucky with a dipping cross which hit our crossbar and came back out.
AC managed to break away down the left and Owen forced a corner. There was less than two minutes left and this could well have been our last chance to win this.
Adam delivered a great corner deep into Barca's box and Chrissy rose high above everyone to power home a superb header giving AC Irvine the winner in some style.
Full Time: AC Irvine 5-4 KSC Barca
It was a great game with a few heart stopping moments, AC kepper, Kierzo was on his toes the whole game and made a couple of crucial saves late in the game.
AC were dominant for a huge part of the game and at 4-1 it looked done and dusted, full credit to KSC Barca who never gave up and could of stolen it in the last couple of minutes.
