Brechin City
Montrose Vics
U16's Friendly
18 August 2014
Brechin never lost control of this friendly against Montrose Vics taking the initiative from the start. Szyjut and Booth showed some fine linking play to develop a number of opportunities.
Brechin took the lead in six minutes. Irvine received a searching ball from Szyjut in midfield and he drove home high into the top left corner of the net.
Irvine was involved in Brechin's second, being pulled down in the penalty area. Duncan calmly stepped up to convert the opportunity from the penalty spot.
Three goals within the next five minutes sealed the game for Brechin. Goal number three came from another Szyjut and Irvine combination - again with Irvine receiving from Szyjut and volleying high into the net.
Goal four came from trialist, who drove a low shot across goal from the right of the field.
The trialist was again involved in Brechin's fifth, driving a long searching ball for Irvine who deftly slotted the ball beneath the keeper with his weaker left foot.
Half Time: Brechin 5-0 Montrose Vics
The second half saw some fine play by Brechin but the boys were unable to capitalise on the chances until seven minutes from time. The trialist again involved, but this time releasing Anderson to chase on to the ball and slot low beneath the keeper.
Full Time: Brechin 6-0 Montrose Vics
Although a good first half performance, Brechin failed to capitalise on their second half chances to extend their lead further.
The game provided a good opportunity for Brechin to try out new formations and develop the team plan for the new season
