The second half began with a good chance for Forfar with Thomas Cooper winning the ball and dancing away from three Discovery defenders before setting Thomson up to run down the wing however the danger was dealt with well by Discovery’s back line.
Discovery then pressed up the field with Ferrie sending a cross into the six yard box that was tapped in at the back post by Ben Thomson for Discovery’s third. Malliff had a chance to make it four not long after but Milligan produced a fantastic save at point blank range.
Forfar’s Alistair Wilson then went then went through on goal but a determined tackle in the box from Max Craig allowed Discovery to regroup and prevent the goal. Forfar constructed another chance not long after when Pass set up Jordan Morrison just outside the box but the shot went narrowly wide.
Discovery then pressed up the field and won a corner when Forfar’s David Pearson got his body in the way of a strong shot from Ferrie. Reekie then nodded Ferrie’s corner just over the bar.
Forfar’s Thomson then picked up a loose ball and ran towards goal but was pressured into dragging his shot wide by strong pressure from Craig.
Thomson swiftly had to turn defender to thwart an eager Ben Thomson on the break. But Thomson was not to be denied a second and Discovery’s fourth, the ball received from Blues was slotted into the net despite Milligan getting his fingers to the ball.
It was almost five for Discovery when Harvey Patterson showed great guile to take a quick free kick to Taylor Anderson whose thunderous shot cannoned back off the woodwork.
Reekie was then dismissed for a second bookable offence.
Forfar were to have last say in the game with a corner headed narrowly over by Wilson. Pass then got clear of Discovery’s defence to slot the ball low past Mitchell.
Both teams can look back on fantastic seasons and forward knowing they have the talent to produce another great season next year.
