In a couple of weeks which were set to see a flurry of Fife Cup semi finals, the first to take centre stage was the Under 16 tie between Balwearie and Queen Anne. The Kirkcaldy school had home advantage of their Dunfermline rivals, as they welcomed them to their school's artificial pitch.
The visitors started off brightly, taking the game to Balwearie with a lot of possession, but they couldn't find a break through goal. A brilliant save from Balwearie keeper tipped over a volley from point blank range, to keep the game at level terms.
At the other end, Balwearie were given a golden opportunity to get their noses in front, when they were awarded a spot kick. However an excellent save by the Queen Anne goalkeeper, diving to his left, kept the deadlock intact.
The remaining minutes passed with very few chances and when the game finished 0-0 it went straight to penalty kicks.
Balwearie scored their first penalty with Gareth Laird scoring to the bottom corner but Queen Anne bounced back with a great penalty. Daniel McLeod then made it 2-1 to Balwearie with a well taken strike into the bottom corner.
Shaun Smith for Balwearie hit the bar but with a save from the Balwearie keeper and goals from Jake Cunningham, and the winner from Michael Corbett,  ensured that Balwearie were going to the Fife Cup final.
Full Time: Balwearie High School 0-0 Queen Anne High School (Balwearie win 4-3 on penalties)
