Kennoway prevail in five goal thriller

It was a much depleted Kennoway team that welcomed Aberdour U19s to Cotlands park on Sunday. On a fairly slippy surface both teams settled in their rhythm creating chances at both ends.
However it was Aberdour that drew first blood when a shot from the edge of the box took a deflection off a Kennoway defender and beat the keeper at the near post.
Kennoway replied in typical fashion creating chance after chance and were finally rewarded just before half time when a cross from the right found Gregor Carstairs unmarked and bulleted a header into the empty net.
Half Time: Kennoway United 1-1 Aberdour
Kennoway started the second half much as they finished the first, on the attack, but to Aberdours credit they regained the lead when a well struck free kick was saved by the keeper and the Kennoway defence were caught napping as their striker nipped in to tuck away the rebound.
This seemed to stir Kennoway into action again and this was rewarded with two goals in five minutes both from corners.  Firstly Carstairs bagged his second of the afternoon poking the ball home as it spun away from the keeper, then Jordan Austin helped himself to what would prove to be the winner turning on a sixpence to fire home from six yards.
Kennoway then made it more difficult for themselves when Nathan Doig was ordered off after being shown a second yellow card. With both teams now tiring the game finished 3-2 to Kennoway.
This coming Sunday sees Kennoway travel to Inverkeithing to play Hillfield Blues.
Full Time: Kennoway United 3-2 Aberdour
