U19's J Cord Cup Semi-Final
17 February 2014
It was a great performance yesterday from Dundee Celtic U19's who have now managed to get into their second cup final for this season after beating dryburgh in extra-time.
it was a good game overall with end to end action. Both teams had chances in the first half, but neither side could find the back of the net making for a disappointing first half.
Half Time: Dryburgh Athletic 0-0 Dundee Celtic BC
Into the second half and a great pass from Marc Henderson into Ryan Carlin just outside the box created an opportunity. Ryan played a little through ball into the box and in came Cameron Quinn to slot the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 Dundee Celtic.
Despite taking the lead, within 10 minutes Dryburgh equalised. A corner played into the back post and the big striker met it with the head.
It remained that way after 90mins, meaning extra-time would be required.
Full Time: Dryburgh Athletic 1-1 Dundee Celtic BC
The first half extra time ended in stalemate with no goals.
With a penalty shootout looming, Dundee Celtic got a corner in the last minute and great delivery from Aidan Stewart found Martin Donaldson around the penalty spot and with a sort of bicycle kick stlye attempt, the ball nestled in the top corner. It was just the moment of brilliance required to settle this game and help Dundee Celtic progress into the final.
After Extra-Time: Dryburgh Athletic 1-2 Dundee Celtic BC
