It looked to be a great match up between Morgan and Menzieshill at the DISC. Morgan are having a superb season, and Braeview had just kicked theirs off and were looking for their first win.
Morgan kicked the game off well, Ryan McLaren chipped a great ball through to Robbie Stewart who powered a shot towards goal but it went over the bar. Menzieshill countered with their own chance after Liam Hornby played a long pass to Jaden Murphy who then moved into the box but was tackled by Rhys Nellies.
Menzieshill took the lead in the 8th minute, after Jaden Murphy was fouled in the box. Murphy stepped up to the spot confidently, and then placed the ball coolly past the keeper making it 1-0.
Morgan weren’t ready to give up though, and continued to pressure the Menzieshill defence. In the 15th minute, Morgan managed to equalise. Ryan McLaren hit a low shot from outside the box which went perfectly into the bottom left corner. Soon after, Aiden Whyte struck the ball beautifully from outside the box right into the top corner making it 2-1 Morgan.
Morgan were starting to pass the ball around well, and looked dangerous every time they were attacking. A long ball was sent up to Ryan McLaren who then used his great pace to get through the defence and into the box. But, his shot was stopped brilliantly by Nathan Thomson who pushed it onto the post and out for a corner. Thomson was called to make another great save as Rhys Nellies sent a powerful header towards goal from the corner but Thomson saved it well then cleared the danger.
Thomson made another remarkable save just before half time, when Robbie Stewart hit a low shot in the box at goal but Thomson made a tremendous dive and pushed the ball away. The half time whistle blew, and Morgan were 2-1 up. Menzieshill were playing well, but struggling to create chances. Morgan were making some nice passing moves, and looked strong when defending.

The second half kicked off, and Menzieshill had a promising start after Brendon Howett sent a great early shot towards goal which was blocked well by Craig Heggie. Morgan countered with their own chance soon after Ryan McLaren played a great through ball to Kieran Ross, but Thomson made another wonderful save.
Morgan increased their lead in the 39th minute. Aiden Whyte made a one two with Ryan McLaren, then played the ball into Robbie Stewart in the centre who smashed into the top corner making it 3-1.
Morgan then went on to score a flurry of goals after putting a lot of pressure on the Menzieshill defence. Ryan McLaren made it 4-1 after controlling a brilliant chipped ball in the box, and then slotted it past the keeper. Then straight from the kick off, McLaren crossed a deadly ball into Robbie Stewart who headed it into the net bringing the score to 5-1.
Soon after, McLaren sealed his hat-trick after receiving a long through ball just outside the box. McLaren then dribbled in the box and tapped the ball around the keeper making it 6-1. Morgan continued to pressure Menzieshill and scored their 7th, McLaren hit the cross bar with a shot from outside the box, which was followed by Keiran Ross who’s shot was saved. But Robbie Stewart got his hat-trick by tapping the loose ball into the net.
Menzieshill started to push up and pressure the Morgan defence, and in the 52nd minute it paid off. Brendan Howatt made a fantastic run getting around the Morgan defenders and into the box. Howatt then struck the ball towards goal but Ryan McLaren blocked it off the line. Howatt picked up the rebound and knocked it over the line making it 7-2.
Brendan Howatt almost made it three after another great run, but this time Artur Ostrowski saved the shot and then the defence cleared the ball away. In the 58th minute, Morgan scored another goal to make it 8-2. Keir Caldwell made a skilful dribble into the Menzieshill box then smacked the ball into the bottom corner. Morgan then scored a ninth goal after Kieran Ross struck a beautiful shot into the top corner making it 9-2.
The match was nearly over, but Menzieshill managed to pull another goal back after Liam Hornby powered a shot from outside the box right into the back of the net finishing the game at 9-3.
Morgan put in a tremendous performance, with plenty of brilliant goals and a consistent level of nice passing. Menzieshill also played well, but struggled to deal with Morgan’s quick attacks and didn’t create enough chances. But the rest of their season still looks promising as they scored three good goals and had a great attitude.

Brendan Howett was my man of the match because he scored a superb goal and came close to scoring more. He also caused a lot of problems for the Morgan defence.
