This fixture turned out to be a real battle. It was going to be a tough game for Rossvale going into it, and so it proved to be; Drumsagard scored 2 goals in the first 7 minutes of this Scottish Cup Under 15’s 3rd round tie; second goal was offside which referee never gave. To be honest it’s what Rossvale deserved, they just weren’t up for the game and Drumsagard were.

The coach decided to change it with 15 minutes bringing on Stefan for Chris. Drumsagard are quite a big team and they left the Rossvale midfield isolated there was too much of a gap between the two midfielders which the Drumsagard No 23 exploited and the Rossvale defence were caught out of position on numerous occasions and ended up clearing the ball to the opposition.

Rossvale eventually got it together and both teams missed chances but for Rossvale, their centre forward, Michael was making the openings but his chances were usually weak shots straight at the keeper.

Half time: Rossvale BC 0-2 Drumsagard Academy

Rossvale went in at half time 0-2 down which gave them a lot of work to get back into their tie. With 20 minutes gone of the restart Rossvale got what they deserved by way of a penalty.

The penalty coolly taken by Benji , crashed into the net leaving the unlucky goalkeeper no chance. The penalty came about with Brandon being block by the Drumsagard defender.

With Rossvale pressing and looking more secure and only after having two goals chopped off for offside, they equalised with the centre forward Michael getting what he deserved, a well taken shot that looked the harder opportunity of all his chance.

Then into extra time Rossvale took control and looked as fit in extra time as they did when the game started. Benji scored two goals, one in each half, the second of which was a pure one man effort and to cap it all the final goal in the second half of extra time was a great team effort, worked all the way up the park through the midfield to the forwards with Robbie Burns taking his time to place the ball into the net.

Strangest decision of the day was the Rossvale player, Brandon, who shot over the line but as the defending player cleared the ball after it went in, the defenders momentum carried through to hit Brandon hard. The referee blew whistle for goal but in the melee with shouts and screams, the referee changed his mind and gave a free kick to Drumsagard, low and behold and with having two other goals chopped off for offside it was a bit hard to take. Brandon was carried off to be replaced by Robbie Bulloch.

Final Score: Rossvale BC 2-2 Drumsagard Academy – AET 5-2

This win puts Rossvale BC 99’s into the 4th round and a home tie against Aberdeen and District side Bervie Caley.
